Senior Quantity Surveyor

A Northern Ireland based main contractor based in Co. Antrim wishes to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

Due to a number of contracts commencing throughout 2023, they are wishing to expand the commercial division.

Working on projects up to £20M, they work across a variety of sectors including commercial, leisure, mixed use and office developments.

The ideal Quantity Surveyor will have a proven track record with a UK main contractor with experience on projects of £10M+ within the commercial sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage the commercial resources (finance) of the assigned project (or section) to maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts.
  • To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement the company's policies for risk management.
  • To support the authorisation and submission of project variations. To authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders.
  • To maximise cash flow through the control, measurement (including quality) and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers.
  • To implement all of the company's policies including those for SHE and risk management.
  • To promote the company's values towards its customers in order to meet or exceed their expectations
  • To participate and advise the impact of variations/design cost control/value engineering
  • To participate and advise on programme/delay issues arising from change/variation and to prepare claims for extensions of time;
  • To prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts;
  • To participate or lead in Project Meetings

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Min 3 years post graduate experience in a QS role with a contractor
  • Extensive experience of commercial processes associated with live projects;
  • Extensive experience of working on live projects and concluding final accounts;
  • Successfully completed a number of final accounts;
  • Experience of procuring major works sub contracts;
  • Experience of working on projects in excess of £10m;
  • Experience of D&B contracts

 

A generous salary & remuneration package is on offer for the position.

Travel 1-2 days per fortnight will be required due to a number of projects based in SE England.
