Job role: Senior health and safety advisor – Galway area

The company who has made over €450 million in revenue last year is advertising a job role for a senior H&S advisor in the Galway area

They see H&S as one of their main priorities in the workplace and want to add somebody to the team to help keep a safe workplace environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

·         Manage emergency procedures, respond to health and safety-related complaints or issues; Keep a focus on health and safety within the business

·         Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry

·         Leading in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks

·         Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards and communicating to all employees

·         Keeping records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements

·         Keeping records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers

·         Delivering Toolbox Talks and liaising with HSE, Fire Officers, Environmental Health Officers

·         Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered to

·         Making changes to working practices making them safer and ensuring they comply with current legislation

Skills and qualifications:

·         Recognised EHS Degree or Diploma (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent qualification preferred)

·         3+ years in similar role

·         Previous construction experience

·         IT Skills

·         Must work well as a team and be able to collaborate with others
