Senior EHS Advisor

About the role:

As a Senior EHS Advisor the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the safety culture on one of their many locations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with the Project Manager and Construction Team with the implementation of the Integrated Management System.
  • Provide EHS support to the site team.
  • Liaise with Client, GC & other contractors EHS Advisors to ensure the safe delivery of the project.
  • Maintain project EHS documentation and training records.
  • Ensure the site is adequately set up with a Site-Specific Construction EHS Plan.
  • Assist with the development of Risk Assessments & Method Statements.
  • Carry out site safety inspections and behavioural audits as per the company SOP.
  • Report and Investigate incidents when they occur and ensure root causes are identified, mitigated and communicated.
  • Communicate Safety Alerts through Toolbox Talk on a scheduled basis.
  • Ensuring waste reduction and recycling programmes are maintained in line with project policies & procedures.
  • Ensure statutory forms and inspections are complete and recorded in a timely fashion.
  • Drive a safety culture by being a champion of best practice; conducting training for new and existing employees on the importance of health and safety on the job; and by suggesting improvements to existing methods of work.
  • Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by the EHS&S Associate Director & EHS Manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.

 

Candidate requirements:

Essential

  • HETAC Level 8 or Equivalent qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety.
  • 5+ years’ experience of managing environmental, health and safety on large construction sites.
  • Experience in construction in the role of supporting PSCS.
  • Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation.
  • Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
  • Ability to efficiently manage all environmental, health and safety issues on site.
  • Strong communication & computer skills,
  • Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Good team-working skills.
