Job role: Health & Safety advisor – Galway

We are currently working with one of Irelands Leading Main Contractors who are looking to recruit an experienced H&S advisor in Galway.

They see H&S as one of their main priorities in the workplace and want to add somebody to the team to implement a top-down approach and help maintain a safe workplace environment.

The successful candidate will have prior experience working as a Health & Safety advisor within the Construction industry.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Manage emergency procedures, respond to health and safety-related complaints or issues; Keep a focus on health and safety within the business
• Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry
• Leading in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
• Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards and communicating to all employees
• Keeping records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements
• Delivering Toolbox Talks and liaising with HSE, Fire Officers, Environmental Health Officers
• Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered to
• Making changes to working practices making them safer and ensuring they comply with current legislation

Skills and qualifications:

• Recognised EHS Degree or Diploma (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent qualification preferred)
• 2+ years in similar role
• Previous construction experience
• IT Skills
