Financial Controller (14-month contract)

As a key member of our finance team the job holder will work closely with stakeholders to maintain the day-to-day financial administration and the development of the corporate strategy. Main duties will include:

  • Working closely with the Finance Director to plan and maintain the Company’s long-term business and operational objectives.
  • Compile timely and reliable month and year end closing data in line with company reporting deadlines.
  • Provide comprehensive and effective financial management.
  • Compile required data for budget and forecast based on current contract performance, market conditions and commercial information including expected improvements.
  • Analyse and comment on KPI’s and any significant changes compared to previous year, budget, and target values.
  • Preparation and submission of all tax requirements including PAYE, CIS, VAT and Corporation Tax.
  • Review and maintain effective controls and reporting mechanisms.
  • Provide up-to-date advice on relevant legislation on a UK and International basis to ensure appropriate compliance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely statutory reporting. Ownership of year end audit.
  • Lead or play a proactive part in special project as required.
  • Bring an added-value dimension by identifying operating efficiencies and promoting continual improvements​

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified Accountant with management experience in a commercial environment and experience presenting financial information at senior level. Previous experience within the construction sector and CVR reporting would be an advantage, as would having trained and/or qualified in an Audit/Practice environment.​

Candidates should have strong leadership, communication, organisation and decision-making skills. The ability to add value, champion continual improvements and achieve results with a commercial and customer focus are essential.
