Design Manager – Tier 1 Main Contractor

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a Dublin based, Tier 1 construction company.

Our client, an award-winning contractor has a fantastic reputation within the industry having completed numerous high-profile projects throughout the UK and Ireland.

You will be responsible for monitoring build quality on all projects, issuing reports to the to the directors and liaising with site managers and subcontractors/ trades to ensure corrective works are carried out in a timely manner to mitigate defects.

The role:

·         Managing the design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise

·         Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and obligations in the development of a building design

·         Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate

·         Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales

·         Attend Client meetings to report on design release/ design development progress

·         Develop construction staff knowledge through participation at technical meetings and site inspections, particularly, in relation to awareness of scope, installation logistics, programme and interface issues

·         Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction

The successful applicant will have experience working as a Design Manager, for a main contractor in a similar role. Applicants also welcome from an Architectural or Project Management background with a minimum of 2/3 years' experience.

A degree within a Construction / Architectural discipline is required.
