Vocational Tutor - Plumbing

Job Desciption:


The purpose of this role is to develop the necessary competence of learners through the effective provision of high quality training, assessment and on site placements with employers in line with current guidelines and procedures to meet the requirements for the Department for the Economy, the Education and Training Inspectorate, ISEF Standards and the various Awarding Bodies.


MAIN DUTIES OF POST HOLDER:

 

  • To sustain expected levels of performance in accordance with internal standards relating to learner retention, success and progression
  • To design lesson plans and schemes of work appropriate to qualification being delivered
  • To recruit learners to undertake work-based learning programmes as required
  • To maintain optimum occupancy numbers in line with the programme targets
  • To initially assess and record learners’ skills, abilities and experience
  • To prepare an individual training plan for each learner
  • To liaise with the Employer Engagement team in effectively matching learners and employers
  • To ensure all placements meet the necessary requirements and safeguards in terms of insurance, liability, employment law, health & safety etc
  • To deliver practical and technical learning sessions to learners
  • To monitor, review and record learner progress while learning both off site and while in placement
  • To monitor the section’s income and expenditure budget particularly in terms of learner allowances, equipment, resources, materials, tools, protective clothing and registration, examination and qualification costs appropriate to each learner
  • To undertake personal training as necessary to maintain high quality standards of work
  • To produce internal and external reports as required
  • To develop relationships with key partners and other external organisations as required
  • To carry out such other relevant or related duties as may be required by management
  • To maintain effective working relationships with all internal departments

Qualification/

Attainments

·         Maths and English GCSE Grade C or higher (or recognised equivalent)

 

  • Level 3 qualification (or higher) in plumbing

 

·         Hold a current UK driving license

 

·         ICT literate

 

  • Teaching and Learning Qualification containing LLUK Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers.

 

  • Internal Quality Assurance (TAQA)  

 

  • Assessor Award (TAQA)

 

·         Able to demonstrate knowledge of and practical implementation of the Training Cycle

 

Relevant
Experience
  • 3 years relevant industry experience (post-apprenticeship)

 

  • Ability to engage with and motivate learners to learn to their full capability.

 

 

·         Knowledge and Competence in the use of IQRS systems, Awarding Body Records and Certification Methods

 

  • Use of innovative learning methods including ICT

 

  • Knowledge of the training cycle and teaching methods

 

  • Experience working in the employability sector

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
