Health & Safety Officer

Our Client is a leading Fit Out, Formwork and RC Frame contractor based in the Mid Ulster Area.

Due to rapid expansion they currently require a Health & Safety Officer for a new role within the company

As a Health and Safety Officer you will work closely with and report to the Company management team in all aspects of delivery of the Company’s Health, Safety and Welfare policy on the project.  This will include, but not limited to, undertaking inspections, developing operating procedures, assisting the preparation of reports and statistics as well as the provision of health and safety related advice to employees and Sub-contractors.  In addition you will be expected to liaise closely with site management in terms of not only providing advice and guidance but also working together to address issues and generally improve health and safety standards where required. 

An important aspect of the role will be assisting in the investigation and reporting of incidents

The successful candidate will be expected to Travel to the UK one night a week, they will have travel and accommodation paid for

Packages will be around £25 - 30k

Key Responsibilities;

·         Undertake on-going inspections in keeping with an agreed programme on site and report accordingly. 

·         Assist in the investigation and reporting on incidents, dangerous occurrences, ill health and near misses.

·         Prepare relevant statistics. 

·         Liaise with and advise site based staff on aspects of the Company’s Health, Safety, and Welfare Policy. 

·         Deliver training to employees as required to recognised / acceptable standards.  This includes delivery of a standard induction.

·         Continual promotion of the health and safety ethos and culture at all levels amongst site employees and with sub-contractors.

·         Implement the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan for the contract site with assistance from site staff.

·         Assess health and safety competence of sub-contractors on site.

·         Attend and contribute to health and safety meetings on site. 

·         Prepare and distribute regular health and safety alerts as required.

·         Contribute to the development of health and safety operating procedures. 

 

Requirements;

·         Relevant degree or suitable trade background and NEBOSH Certificate in Construction or equivalent qualification.

·         At least 2 years’ experience working in a construction environment.

·         Willingness to assume additional responsibilities in keeping with the requirements of the post.

·         Proficient in information technology.

·         Capable of delivery of effective health and safety advice and guidance to site personnel.

·         Experience in delivering presentations / training sessions.

·         Knowledge of health and safety management systems.

·         Team player.

·         Ability to meet deadlines.
