Health & Safety Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HSE Officer to join a UK wide production and construcion contractor’s manufacturing plant, based in Antrim for a permanent position.

As a HSE Officer your duties will include:

 • Provide advice and guidance to company on matters relating to Health, Safety & Environmental.

 • In conjunction with Health & Safety Manager, review and develop and support the implementation of suitable Health, Safety and Environmental practices to the office.

• Guide and assist the site teams to ensure the consistent and effective implementation of best practices, including following up internal site procedures

• Monitor and support the Project managers through inspections, audits and hands on guidance providing appropriate reports and improvement plans, working with line managers to ensure implementation.

 • Support site teams and departments in the investigation and reporting of accidents and incidents as required ensuring any learning points are communicated.

 • Ensure all lost time accidents are fully investigated and reported with relevant documentation retained for future reference.

• Identify, develop and implement appropriate improvements in working practices and systems through proactive and reactive reviews.

• In conjunction with the site teams, develop and manage the delivery and maintenance of HS&E and Quality Systems awareness, training and associated documentation and literature in line with company objectives and standards.

• Ensure the risk register is kept up to date with all operational risks identified across the site teams.

 • Provide reports as required.

• Accurate and timely reporting of KPI data, trend analysis and statutory obligations.

• Manage and motivate team members, communicating and demonstrating best practice within H, S & E issues and practices, ensuring a motivated and committed workforce. Addressing poor performance appropriately.

An ideal Health and Safety Officer will hold the following skills and experiences:

 • 2-3 years experience minimum, ideally within manufacturing/construction.

• Attention to detail

• Pragmatic problem solver

• Working Collaboratively

• Grad IOSH member

• NEBOSH qualification (ideally diploma or equivalent)

 • Experience in a HSEQ role

 • Hands on approach to risk management

• Ability to build good working relationships with employees/client at all levels

 

• Practical Knowledge on OHSAS 18001, 9001  & ISO 14001
