Estimator - Fitout

An expanding Fitout Contractor in Northern Ireland has a new opportunity for an Estimator to join the Commercial team.

As the Estimator you will be responsible for interpreting a client brief and timely preparation of estimates, for fitout and refurbishment projects including pricing Bills of Quantities and compiling cost plans. Coupled with completing the examination of tender documents and be in close liaison with our supply chain to procure competitive quotations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate with the bid management team to develop a schedule of key dates for individual estimates (enquiries, pricing, adjudication)
  • Manage estimate either through estimating software or through excel in line with bid strategy
  • Extract bill of quantities from tender package to estimating software and send out enquiries
  • Use estimating software to resource bill of quantities or manage through excel in line with bid strategy
  • Prepare and send out enquiry documents to providers of materials and sub-contractors for the scope of work
  • Complete accurate take off's for checking bill of quantities and producing cost plans
  • Compile accurate cost plans including take off's and pricing for submission
  • Price bills of quantities and ensure compliance with tender requirements
  • Compile subcontractor enquiry list in conjunction with the Bid Team
  • Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers / subcontractors and where necessary communicate with suppliers/subcontractors to bring quotations in line with the project specification
  • Organise the delivery of completed tender documents ensuring that they reach the client by the date and time specified by the tender. Ensure completed tenders are filed and recoverable
  • Prepare Handover documentation on confirmation of winning tenders
  • Manage effective communication with subcontractors, suppliers and colleagues
  • Develop Value Engineering options in conjunction with the Bid Team
  • Flexibility to work on multiple tenders simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Were required meet with clients to understand and develop brief for costing

Skills and experience required

  • Experience in the commercial interiors/ fitout estimating/ or general building
  • Working knowledge of building construction with onsite experience in an estimating role
  • Excellent technical knowledge of construction methodologies and best practices
  • Experience of different tender and procurement procedures
  • Working knowledge of bills of quantities and Cost Planning
  • Ability to understand and price from architectural and design team drawings
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise coupled with strong numerical/mathematical and data analysis skills
  • An appropriate and valid CSCS / CSR card
  • Hold a Full UK Driving License
